Take Back the Bible Stories

“Biblical key texts are claims about God, and He has not asked us to believe mere claims (like God is love, God is this, and God is that…). The real evidence of what God is like is in the stories between the claims. We adults do a very strange thing: we collect the claims and give the evidence to the children.

“Indeed, we have it backwards. Children are willing to accept claims, like “my daddy says, so I believe it.” Yet, as adults, we demand evidence. Consequently, it only makes sense that we should give the claims we are so focused on to the children, while we take the stories back for ourselves.”
